The Golden Age Rest Home was established by John Tooby in 1985 with subsequent facilities being added, the Golden Healthcare Group is now New Zealand’s largest privately owned healthcare business.
With the development of the purpose built Lady Wigram Retirement Village, Golden Healthcare group now offers eight facilities for the older person.
This Christchurch based group includes the Golden Age Retirement Village and Brookhaven Retirement Village, while specialist dementia care is available at Camellia Court, Albarosa Rest Home, Somerfield Rest Home, Brookhaven and Hoon Hay Rest Home. The group provides 380 beds and employs over 220 Christchurch based staff.

About Our People
Golden Healthcare Group is a family owned and operated business with over 30 years of experience. John Tooby founded the Company and has lead the expansion right through to the latest Lady Wigram purpose built Village being completed at present.
John has been joined by his daughter, Olivia this year, and she has taken on the role of Operations Manager. The Company is well supported by an Executive team of five who are specialists in their own areas and passionate about running a high performing operation with excellence in Healthcare for the older person.
The Golden Healthcare facilities take huge pride in their grounds. The gardens and private outdoor areas are frequently enjoyed by their residents.
